Halloween is Little Five Points’ specialty. The proof? Well, Travel Channel did put it on the list of Top 10 Halloween Parades across the country. If that doesn’t sell you, please allow me to.

L5P is the #1 Stop for Costume Shopping in Atlanta

If you’re basic, you’ll get your costume at the local Spirit store but if you’re looking for something more unique or vintage these two shops at Little Five are right up your alley:

Junkman’s Daughter

464 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

(404) 577-3188

Started over three decades ago by an actual junkman’s daughter, the late Pam Majors, the store is now run by her son Moss Mills. The self-described “Atlanta’s Alternative Super Store” is my favorite store in the city and the perfect store for costume shopping! Not only does it have costumes, masks, and wigs for all your Halloween needs, but it’s also stuffed with unique clothing, shoes, books, a fully stocked smoke shop, retro knick-knacks, and all sorts of unusual goods. (…It’s probably easier to list what they don’t have…)

Psycho Sisters

428 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

(404) 523-0100

The name conjures a vision of hippies, which is exactly its specialty. This consignment store is the best place to find 60s hippie, 70s disco, and 80s rocker apparel, accessories, and shoes. If you’re looking for something more theatrical, take the stairs up to the loft where you’ll find costumes ranging from circus apparel to period clothing to Star Wars costumes.

Halloween Festival & Parade

Typically held on a Saturday in mid-October the festivities begin at noon and go on till midnight, with the parade starting at 4 pm. Normally, Euclid Avenue is shut down and the streets are filled with live entertainment, vendors, ghouls, and goblins alike. The festival is essentially a big block party that all* are welcome to and best of all it’s free! (*Parental discretion is advised after dark, as they say, “the freaks come out at night!”)

This year, not letting a pandemic stop them, they opted for a virtual parade that took place on October 17th. It features the famous Puddles Pity Party as the Grand Marshal and proceeds with a compilation of video submissions of home parades and clips from past parades.

Additionally, to raise money for the 2021 L5PBA Halloween Festival they are running a “Spookaton” on their Facebook page till the end of October. Described as a “telethon, variety style”, they will be auctioning art and doing a Venmo raffle.

To really get a feel for the Little Five Point’s Halloween Festival and Parade check out the virtual parade:
